HARVEST LUNCHEON
Every year we celebrate
with a Harvest Luncheon here
at the Child Care.  Parents bring
a pot luck dish in the morning,
pre-cooked.  We will warm up.
At noon,  parents return to have
lunch with the kids and other parents.

It's been a great tradition all these years.
We also do it as a cultural event,  and
food dishes can be cultural.

The child care will close after the
luncheon, and for the remainder
of the week for Thanksgiving.

TEE SHIRT DAY:

The  kids all received new T shirts in October
after having their school pictures taken.

We are going to make Wednesday not
only share day but also TEE SHIRT day.
Every Wednesday please let your child
wear his/her special Tee shirt.  It's fun
for the kids, and we start a new tradition.
Don't forget.  WEDNESDAY IS TEE SHIRT
DAY AND SHARE DAY.

SHARE DAY:
reminders.  Every Wednesday is Share day.
Your child brings  a toy from home that he
will want to share.  Please no comfort toys or
favorite toy.
Here is what to bring:
-no battery operated toys
-no multiple parts or small parts
-consider what the child is bringing?
would it fall apart,  is it paper, is it something
that  no one would want to share?  example:
A sticker from the doctor?  No  one would share that
or a princess crown or halloween costumes.
Look at what your child is selecting and
if the selection does not qualify then gently
guide them to something else.
Please remember the age groups here.
And encourage your child to bring something
different each week.  Children will latch onto
something that is familiar or a favorite,  but
then they get upset if no one wants to trade with
them.
NOTE:
put share toy in the car the night before so you
don't forget.  Or have a little box of toys in the trunk
so if in the event you forgot you still have something
in the car.

It is cold and Flu season.
Your child's health is priority here
and we want all parents to take
all precautions in protecting their child
and family from the Flu this year.
GET FLU SHOTS.
We are going to make sure our
health policies are enforced.
Read up on your health policies.
If you do not have a copy,
go here and see them

NO FEVERS, vomiting,Diarrhea,unmangeable cold
symptoms  etc.
See the keep me home poster

www.http://w2.cocokids.org/_cs/downloadables/cc-healthnutrition-keepmehome.pdf
Swine flu the symptoms could
look like regular flu.  But you never
know.  The important thing is to keep
your child home when he/she is ill.
The flu can start out looking like a cold.
If any member of your family comes down
with flu, or flu like symptoms remember they
are CONTAGIOUS,  and your child could be
a carrier before they show symptoms.  Please
do not expose your child to anyone sick in the
home.  Try and keep your home aired out as much
as possible this season.  The reason people get sick
more in the winter time then spring or summer is
because they are cooped up indoors more and less
fresh air.  Get a lot of fresh air, go outside even for a few
minutes, and air out your house daily.
Also remember to practice good hand washing to keep
the germs down.  Cough/sneeze in your elbow away from
people.  Not your hands.  And still wash your hands.
Flu can also start out looking like a cold.  We will be
monitoring colds very carefully.  No fevers, not even low
grade fevers will be allowed.  And if your child comes
down with the flu, any type of flu,  we are going to change
our 24 hours symptom free policy (no meds, fever, and other symptoms)
to 48 hours symptom free.  This is for the PROTECTIONS of the other
children in care, and their families.

GET YOUR FLU SHOTS.  Parents are more than likely to come down
with a illness due to exposure in the work place and then
spread it to the children.  Older siblings in school are at a higher risk
as well.
Please read these articles.
Children are at high risk,  and we want to be sure our children
here in our program are kept healthy.
